Don’t Despair…

Are you having a hard time responding to the challenges, tragedies, and hurting in the world?

As you take in the news, do you feel yourself growing numb, cynical or hopeless?

If you’re impacted emotionally by world events (as many of us are) and are facing a lot of despair, first try to recognize and name the struggle you’re feeling.

Try saying to yourself: “In life there are tough moments, and I am not alone in my despair. Many others are struggling with this too.”

Then focus on soothing your nervous system by sending some love and caring to yourself.  Just acknowledging your struggle and connecting with kindness can calm the mind.

From there, expand to spreading kindness and care out into the world.  If you feel so pulled practice compassion, get involved in a way that betters the world if you can. This may be volunteering your time, making a donation, or researching ways to can be of support.

Try this 10-minute Growing Compassion audio meditation to connect with healing and loving-kindness. This practice will help you turn toward being aware of your longing to relieve the pain and suffering in yourself, your loved ones and the world. You are breathing in and acknowledging the longing for that relief and breathing out a sense of healing and loving awareness.

This wonderful compassion practice comes from A Course in Mindful Living – my 6-Month online private coaching program that will teach you how to connect with intention, greater purpose, compassion, and the courage to meet life’s challenges without being overwhelmed by them. I’m so excited for the next course that’s starting in March 2020, and can’t wait to share more details with you soon!

Don’t despair, we are in this together. We can make a positive impact in the world!

As always, please share your thoughts, stories and questions below. Your interaction creates a living wisdom for us all to benefit from.
